Payyannur Municipality says property-tax collection camps will operate across all 46 wards through 15 October for the 2026–27 financial year. Its notice separately says tax could be paid without penalty or interest only up to 30 September, so the remaining camp period should not be read as a new penalty-free extension.
Two dates, two different things
The municipality’s notice says designated staff will collect property tax at locations across all 46 wards from 14 September to 15 October. It also lists online payment through the K-SMART portal.
The same page states that FY 2026–27 property tax could be paid without penalty or interest up to 30 September. The camp end date is later, but the notice does not say that the no-penalty date has been extended. For an owner paying after 30 September, the safe reading is to check the current amount shown on the municipal record and ask the municipality about any charge rather than assume the camp date changes the tax treatment.
Who this notice covers
This is a Payyannur Municipality collection notice for the current financial year. It is not a Kerala-wide change to property-tax rules and it does not describe the separate treatment of older arrears. Owners can use the listed collection camps or the K-SMART route, then retain the payment receipt against the property account.
BestProp.ai’s earlier Kerala arrears and interest-waiver update covered a different statewide arrears measure. It should not be treated as an extension of Payyannur’s current-year payment window.
What to verify before paying
Check that the demand belongs to the correct property and financial year, confirm the payable amount through the municipality’s official channel, and keep the receipt. The notice gives the camp dates and the previous no-penalty date; it does not state the rate or calculation for a late charge after 30 September.
