What this calculator covers
Inclusive means the amount you enter already contains GST. Exclusive means GST is added on top. The split is shown only after you choose both a rate and a supply treatment.
For an ordinary domestic supply, an intra-state transaction uses CGST plus SGST, or CGST plus UTGST in a Union Territory. An inter-state transaction uses IGST. Matching street addresses do not by themselves prove the legal place of supply.
A commercial discount reduces the amount you enter before tax is calculated. This page does not decide whether a discount given after supply qualifies under GST law.
Nil-rated, exempt, non-GST, export, SEZ, reverse-charge and bill-of-supply treatments are outside this ordinary taxable draft. Selecting zero does not make those treatments valid here.
No business name, GSTIN or sample invoice is filled in for you. A printed tax invoice keeps the draft label, including when every visible field is complete.
Sources reviewed 2026-10-11
- CBIC GST invoice rules (official source, leaves BestProp)
Invoice particulars, including supplier and recipient identification and invoice numbering.
The page uses older numbering. Check the current consolidated Rule 46, later amendments and e-invoice notifications before treating a draft as complete.
- CBIC rules explorer, Rule 48 (official source, leaves BestProp)
The boundary between an ordinary invoice and a notified e-invoice that needs an IRN.
A local print is not a registered e-invoice and does not create an official QR code.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between inclusive and exclusive GST?
Exclusive GST is added to the amount you enter. Inclusive GST is already inside that amount, so the taxable value is backed out of it. The page does not guess which one you mean.
When is the tax CGST and SGST, UTGST, or IGST?
You confirm the supply treatment. Ordinary intra-state supplies split between CGST and SGST, or CGST and UTGST in a Union Territory. Ordinary inter-state supplies use IGST. The page does not infer the legal place of supply from matching addresses alone.
How does a discount change the amount?
A commercial discount you enter reduces the amount before tax is calculated. A fixed discount and a percentage discount are not combined on the same line. This calculator does not decide the legal treatment of a discount given after the supply.
Which GST rate should I use?
The rate that applies to your goods or services. This page does not preselect 5, 12, 18, 28 or any other rate, and a calculation at a stated rate is not advice that the rate is correct for your supply.
Is a quotation the same as a tax invoice draft?
No. A quotation is labeled Quotation and is not a tax invoice. A tax invoice draft collects the particulars you choose to enter and stays labeled Tax invoice draft on every print and export.
Does this generate a government e-invoice?
No. It does not generate an IRN, an official QR code, or a portal-registered e-invoice, and it does not verify a GSTIN.
