Blackstone announced a new Bengaluru office and Global Capability Center (GCC) on 27 October at Prestige Lakeshore Drive. The firm’s release identifies the location and corporate-function purpose; The Times of India separately reports that Blackstone CFO Michael Chae said Bengaluru currently has about 80 employees, with the team expected to grow to 100 or more by year-end. That is a specific employer signal, not a count of new jobs created by the office.
What Blackstone announced
Blackstone says the new office is its second in India and that the GCC will bring together employees and professional-services partners across corporate functions. The location is Prestige Lakeshore Drive, an office park jointly owned by Blackstone Real Estate and Prestige Group. The company also says its investment professionals will remain based in Mumbai. The company release does not give a Bengaluru headcount or hiring target. In an interview reported by The Times of India on 27 October, Chae put the existing Bengaluru team at about 80 and said it was expected to grow to 100 or more by year-end. The same report describes functions including finance, technology, human resources, legal and compliance. The 100-plus figure is an expectation attributed to the interview, not a completed hiring result.
What the reported headcount means
A current team size is not the same as the number of people hired for a new opening. The public announcement does not separate transfers, existing staff, partners or additional hires. The reported year-end number therefore should not be restated as “100 new jobs.”
There is a broader office-market context. Cushman & Wakefield’s Bengaluru Q3 MarketBeat summary reports 5.2 million square feet of office leasing in Q3 2026 and says GCCs drove 65% of demand. That describes citywide office leasing, not Blackstone’s own space, staffing or recruitment. An office lease or opening is one link in a longer chain from space to staffed roles to commuting and housing choices.
What a home search can infer
For a worker evaluating a rental or purchase near an employer, the useful details are the actual work location, role assignment, work schedule, transport route and time spent commuting. A company’s Bengaluru presence does not establish that every employee works from the announced office or lives nearby.
BestProp.ai has separately explained why Bengaluru GCC and office demand are not a housing-price forecast, and how a Whitefield flexible-workspace opening differs from a hiring tally. The same distinction applies here: this announcement is a location-specific employment signal, not a citywide housing outlook.
Does Blackstone’s new office add about 80 jobs?
The Times of India attributed about 80 to the current Bengaluru employee count. Its report does not say all 80 are new hires connected to the opening. The reported 100-plus year-end figure is an expected team size, not a completed hiring total.
Does the announcement predict nearby home-price growth?
No. The release and interview do not provide housing demand, household location or residential price data. They establish an employer presence and a reported staffing expectation, which should be weighed alongside actual commute and housing evidence.
Source and limitation: Blackstone’s release is the primary source for the office and location. Headcount and its year-end expectation are attributed to The Times of India’s interview with the CFO; the citywide office statistics come from Cushman & Wakefield.
